  8. This document must go wherever It’s Your Default! goes. Please do not
  9. distribute It’s Your Default! without this documentation. Please do not
  10. modify this document.

  12. REGISTERING IT’S YOUR DEFAULT! AND THE 7.0 PLUS UTILITIES
  13. =======================================================
  14. Although It’s Your Default! is free, most of the 7.0 PLUS Utilities aren’t.
  15. If you  use any of them, you must register them, one copy per computer.
  16.  
  17. 7.0 PLUS Utilities is a package of all System 7.0 utilities I have written.
  18. You can get the disk with all of them NOW (not wait until I decide to
  19. upload the next program) by sending $29.95 to me. This will register
  20. you for all the software, will get you a disk of the software, and an
  21. update to the PLUS Utilities when it rolls around. It’s a pretty good
  22. deal. You should register your software, anyway, so why not do it
  23. like this? And it’s a lot cheaper this way.

  25. See the documentation which should be accompanying this file for
  26. more information on the 7.0 PLUS Utilities. A registration form should
  27. also accompany this file. Please use it to register the software.

  29. USING IT’S YOUR DEFAULT!
  30. ========================
  31. •  If you use It’s Your Default!, please please please send me a note. My addresses

  34. What Does It’s Your Default! Do?
  35. -----------------------------
  36. •  It’s Your Default! provides you with a means of setting the default application
  37.     font. It can be set for the current session (until you restart), or the changes
  38.     can be saved across restarts in Parameter RAM.
  39.  
  40. •  The default application font is the standard font used by applications. It should
  41.     not be confused with the System font, which the System uses to draw menus
  42.     and window titles. TeachText and control panels are two examples of programs
  43.     that depend on the application font.
  44.  
  45. Using It’s Your Default!
  46. ---------------------
  47. •  Double-click on the It’s Your Default! icon under System 7, or open the
  48.     Control Panel DA and select the It’s Your Default! icon under System 6.0.X
  49.     to open the It’s Your Default! window.
  50.  
  51. •  Select the desired default font from the font menu (the standard font is
  52.     Geneva). You can see how different sizes of that font appear by selecting
  53.     from the View as menu. This menu has no effect on the application font
  54.     itself. It merely allows you to see what sizes are present for a given font,
  55.     and how they look. It is a good idea to use application fonts that are
  56.     available at least in sizes 9 and 12 (even through TrueType).

  58. •  When the Make changes permanent check box is on, the changes you make
  59.     will be saved in Parameter RAM. This means that the changes will last,
  60.     even if you restart your machine, until you change the values (through
  61.     It’s Your Default, by zapping the PRAM, etc.). If the check box is off,
  62.     the changes only affect the current session and are reverted to the
  63.     normal setting when you restart your machine.

  65. •  Changes are saved after you dismiss the control panel window. If you are
  66.     making changes permanent, an alert will ask you to verify your choice.
  67.     To bypass this alert automatically, hold down the shift key when you
  68.     close the window. It will be interpreted as if you pressed OK.

  70. •  Click on the It’s Your Default! logo for information on the program.

  72. •  System 7 Note:  Although It’s Your Default! is a Control Panel, it does not
  73.                              have to be in the Control Panels folder to function properly.

  75. •  Also note that some programs may obtain the default font directly from
  76.     saved Parameter RAM. For instance, you have to make changes permanent
  77.     for the default font to be reflected in TeachText.
